A laptop computer is almost inseparable from business situations, college students, or even some pretty serious gamers. Since they’re so portable we often see laptops appearing all around us as more people take their work outside the office or classroom. Seeing this as a great opportunity, many of the big computer companies are developing new technologies and applications that will let us more effectively use our computers.

Recently we have seen a trend toward a more effective touchscreen input. This latest trend has stemmed from all the other smaller gadgets that have taken advantage of touchscreen technologies, and customers are starting to expect it everywhere. A laptop with a touchscreen display isn’t exactly a new idea, but we haven’t had anything like the new products that are coming out.

One of the reasons that there has been so much development in the touchscreen laptop area is because of the upcoming Windows 7 OS. Microsoft’s new operating system is going to have built in support for touchscreen technology, so the big companies are gearing up for its release. Until now, those companies had to build their own hardware and software to make sure everything worked right.

Both HP and Dell have already released two-finger touchscreen laptops, and both continue to develop more advanced technologies in this arena. Lenova has just announced a new kind of screen, however, which will allow users to employ a multi-touch technology.

In other words, a regular touchscreen laptop will allow a user to interface with various apps with a simple touch. It’s a simple matter to zoom in on maps, scroll through documents, and manipulate images. The new four-finger, multi-touch technology, on the other hand, will start to give users a lot more control over their computer interactions.

This will be particularly useful for designers or engineers who have to work with a lot more images and objects than other computer users. Anyone that requires a very high level of precision as they interact with the computer will be able to appreciate this level of control.

A laptop computer can be a big part of our modern lifestyle, and the big companies continue to develop new ways for use to use them. Some users, however, have felt that laptops still lack in some areas, and use a rage of different peripherals to interact with it (full keyboards, mice, etc.). These companies are hoping to eliminate that need with this new touchscreen technology.

More and more we are going to see these new developments in tablet and laptop computers, but we will likely see it in other places as well. Our phones and other small gadgets have paved the way for casual touchscreen usage, and the laptop industry is poised to take it to the next step.

Rain- seems like that’s what we got for most summer! When did New York and Seattle trade places and I had no clue?

Since rain was the topic of the day this past June/July it makes me recall a seminar on Branding I viewed given by Ben Mack which I think had the title: “How to Be a Rainmaker” so something similar.

I will make a great effort to reveal some of the most important points spoken at this very informative presentation over the next ensuing articles so stay tuned or check out my blog for updates. The lecture contained topics such as: 1) How to make lightning Strike, 2) Keeping the Lightning Striking and 3) Bottling your lightning.

For those of you not familiar with Dr. Ben Mack, he is one of the leading authorities on Branding today in the United States. He has been employed at over 14 diverse Ad agencies over his illustrious professional undertakings and was a Vice President for Brand strategy for a major corporation.

In essence, what that means was he was in charge of a ” billion dollar budget (yes, I said ” billion or 500 million smakers)! Don’t you think he knows what he is doing? I do, and not only has he worked magic for the many corporations he has beem employed at, he is also a professional magician who at the age of 19 was the youngest recipient of the Award of Merit given by the Academy of Magical Arts.

For those alien to the concept of what a rainmaker is, a rainmaker is someone medicine man not withstanding who instead of bringing a good harvest for his people brings increased revenue to his corporation by the use of his or her political associations, ability to attract customer therfore making the people he works for happy.

The primary function as a marketer is to “up sell” folks understanding of reality. In Benjamin Macks book entitled “Think Two Products Ahead” he gets into the whole concept of how useful branding only occurs when businesses (large or small) think two products ahead instead of the current time frame and for these companies to put together thriving affiliations with their client or customers through their Brand. The section in the book where Ben Mack discusses the process of developing your Legend Platform is worth it’s weight in gold!

The “Brand” (called YOU) is built by using legends or tales that are told over and over and gain strenght with time. These stories should be allowed to say the opposite of what the others say and will increase as the stories get older. So, if you had to make a choice of the type of story you use to make your business shine like a diamond (you are reading articles like this to help you right?) why not let them be legends. A Legendary business is a profitable one!

Look out for the next article in the “Rainmaker and Branding” series coming soon to a blog, e-zine or website near you!
